Guwahati News Desk: Refusing to take COVID-19 vaccine, a self-proclaimed god woman created ruckus infront of healthworkers in Koliabor, Nagaon. The woman refused take COVID vaccine and demanded to take her to a temple. Officials said that a 13-member family of Dijou Valley Tea Estate continued to refuse to take the vaccine citing their religious custom for which an FIR was lodged against them under the Disaster Management Act, 2005.

At last, the concerned health officials led by the local magistrate went to administer the vaccines on the family. All members of the family except a woman gave consent to take the vaccine jabs after the doctor who accompanied the health officials had motivated them. The woman, who refused to take the vaccine created ruckus frightening the health officials and the local people. She claimed god is dwelling in her body and demanded to take her to a temple. Officials stated that the family is a Christian family. Seeing her unnatural behavior some women, who were present at the spot, prayed to the God in frightening tone.

Earlier the Assam Government, on Monday, launched the seven-day ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ campaign to ensure that no person is left behind in the COVID-19 vaccination exercise. In this door-to-door motivational drive — which will continue till December 5, 2021— more than 28,000 polling booths will be covered. During this period, the vaccination drive will also continue simultaneously. Assam has set a target of vaccinating 3 lakh people with the first dose by December 5, 2021, to achieve 100 per cent COVID vaccination across the state.

Around 1 lakh government employees, the Chief Minister, all ministers and MPs will participate to ensure the success of this special motivational and vaccination drives. On Monday, government employees and some ministers surveyed various polling booths to make a note of the people who are yet to get a jab of the COVID-19 vaccine. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will be visiting polling booths shortly.

The aim of the ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ campaign is not just to find out who have been left out of the vaccination exercise but also to motivate the people to take the COVID-19 vaccine as vaccination is important in the nation’s fight against the deadly virus.
