Guwahati News Desk: On the holy occassion of Chhath Puja, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent his greetings to the nation on Wednesday.

In addition, wishing that the festival would strengthen people’s efforts to protect the environment, President Ram Nath Kovind also greeted the citizens on the occasion of Chhath Puja through a Twitter post on Wednesday.

The President tweeted, “Greetings to all the countrymen on the auspicious occasion of Chhath Puja. This festival is an occasion to acknowledge our dependence on nature, especially the sun and water. I wish that along with making our cultural heritage strong, this festival should also strengthen our efforts to protect the environment.”

Regarding the festival of ‘Chhath Puja’, it is celebrated widely across North India, and is observed with particular fervour in Bihar and parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh.

Meanwhile, crores of devotees were seen worshipping the setting sun during the evening time of Wednesday.

Furthermore, the festival will end on Thursday after prayers are offered to the rising sun in the morning.
